Tottenham Held by West Ham in Premier League Draw
Missed Opportunity for Top Four
Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League were dented on Saturday after they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United. The result leaves Spurs in fifth place, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with just two games remaining this season.
Missed Chances Haunt Spurs
Tottenham dominated possession and created several chances throughout the match, but they were unable to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, and Lucas Moura all had opportunities to score, but they were either denied by Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski or missed the target. West Ham took the lead against the run of play in the 64th minute through Fabian Balbuena. The Paraguayan defender headed home a corner from Aaron Cresswell to give the hosts a shock advantage.
Tottenham responded well to the setback and equalized just six minutes later through a Dele Alli header. The England international met a cross from Serge Aurier and nodded the ball past Fabianski. Both teams had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither side could find a winning goal.
