Calgary Moves To Stage 4 Outdoor Water Restrictions

Calgary Moves to Stage 4 Outdoor Water Restrictions

City Announces Mandatory Measures to Conserve Water

Restrictions to Impact Outdoor Watering, Car Washing, and More

The City of Calgary has announced that it will be implementing Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions effective immediately. These restrictions are necessary to conserve water and protect Calgary's water supply during a period of drought.

Stage 4 restrictions prohibit the following activities:

  • Watering lawns and gardens with sprinklers
  • Washing vehicles outside
  • Filling swimming pools or hot tubs
  • Using fountains or water features

Residents can still water their lawns and gardens using a hose with a nozzle, but they must do so before 10:00 AM or after 6:00 PM. Car washing is only permitted at commercial car washes.

Violators of the outdoor water restrictions could face fines of up to $1,000.

The City of Calgary is also working on a permanent watering schedule that will be implemented once the drought conditions have improved. The schedule will include specific days and times when residents can water their lawns and gardens.

The City of Calgary is urging residents to conserve water and adhere to the outdoor water restrictions. By working together, we can protect our water supply and ensure that we have enough water for essential needs.

Outdoor Water Restriction Stages

There are four stages of mandatory outdoor water restrictions based on the severity of the water shortage.

Stage 1: Voluntary water conservation measures are encouraged.

Stage 2: Outdoor watering is restricted to twice per week.

Stage 3: Outdoor watering is restricted to once per week.

Stage 4: All outdoor watering is prohibited, except for hand watering with a nozzle.
