Hollywood has been abuzz with excitement as casting news for HBO's highly anticipated prequel series, House of the Dragon, has been officially released. The series, based on the novel Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, has assembled an impressive cast that includes Rhys Ifans, Matt Smith, Graham McTavish, and Fabien Frankel.
Fans of the original Game of Thrones series will be thrilled to hear that Ifans will portray Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King. Smith will play Prince Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother of King Viserys I. McTavish has been cast as Ser Harrold Westerling, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, while Frankel will bring to life Ser Criston Cole, a talented swordsman from the Dornish Marches.
House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of the House Targaryen. The series will follow the rise and fall of the Targaryen dynasty, culminating in the infamous Dance of the Dragons, a civil war that tore the family apart.
With its stellar cast and a story that promises to be both epic and intimate, House of the Dragon is poised to become one of the most anticipated television events of the year. Fans can expect to see the series premiere on HBO in 2022.
