An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 has struck off the coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake occurred at approximately 10:44 p.m. Pacific Time on Sunday, October 23, 2023, and was located about 100 kilometers northwest of Tofino, British Columbia.
The earthquake was widely felt across Vancouver Island and the surrounding areas. There are no reports of any significant damage or injuries at this time. However, officials are urging residents to be prepared for aftershocks, which can occur over the next several days or weeks.
